With a BSc in Mechanical Engineering and as a specialist in metal technology Johan combined his education with his passion for skating and founded Maple. As the architect behind the design and manufacturing of Maples blades for over a decade, Johan now brings over 45 years of skating and engineering experience to the Evo group and its products.

With over 25 years experience in the sport of speed skating, Derrick has been to 6 Olympic Games with 3 as an athlete, and 3 as staff. He has been involved with the National Team Program for over 20 years, 11 as an athlete and 9 as a coach. In his capacity as athlete and coach, Derrick has become a Short Track Speedskating equipment specialist. World class short-trackers have come to rely on his expertise to manufacture, test and bend blades.
